Today, the Minister for Slovenians Abroad, Matej Arčon, ceremoniously opened the Development and Project Office of the SDGZ in Gorizia, Italy, which was established with the support of the Government Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad at the end of last year. The State Secretary at the Office, Vesna Humar, also attended the opening.
The office was established with the aim of providing foreign organisations with professional assistance in the preparation, design, presentation and management of projects; special attention is devoted to the creation of specific projects in the field of cross-border cooperation, the implementation of projects within the framework of the European Capital of Culture (EPK GO 2025), which will be held in Nova Gorica, Slovenia and Gorizia, Italy, in 2025. They also inform the societies, as well as training their members, who prepare and execute such projects. The first results of the office were already visible at this year’s first Small Project Fund tender for EPK GO2025, as six projects were prepared and submitted in the office.
At the event, the president of SDGZ Robert Frandolič, the mayor of the Municipality of Gorica Rodolfo Ziberna, the mayor of the Municipality of Nova Gorica Samo Turel and the Consul General of the Republic of Slovenia in Trieste Gregor Šuc also greeted those gathered at the event.
