On May 21, 2023, the members of the the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Assembly re-elected Tibor Šimonka as the president of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the next mandate period at the constitutive session.

In his presentation, Tibor Šimonka, SIJ – Slovenska industrija jekla, d.d., pointed out that he sees a stable GZS as a guarantee for a stable economy. “Governments change. The world around us is changing. GZS remains.” According to him, the chamber must be “professional, consistent and principled, not populist,” and hold up a mirror to the government. He advocates dialogue, but on an equal level.

Among the focuses of his next mandate period, he highlighted the continuation of social dialogue, a stable, competitive and predictable business environment, strategic development with an emphasis on the green and digital transition, and internationalisation.

In his speech, he also highlighted the importance of all 700,000 employees in the economy in order to make it stronger, more visible, and more heard. “With their help as ambassadors of the economy, it will be easier to achieve the goals of the GZS, and consequently also the goals of Slovenia!” he added.
