We introduce you to a series of chats with Slovenians with the experiences of living and working around the globe prepared by Slovenian World Congress (SSK). The 3rd chat “Back to Slovenia” is with Dr Boris Pleskovič and you will learn more about the differences in studying at faculties in Slovenia and abroad, why “korajža” applies, how you become overqualified and why it would make sense to abolish taxes for those who return to Slovenia.
Boris Pleskovič graduated in Slovenia, received three state awards in architecture at the age of 25, and then continued his studies with a master’s degree at Harvard and a doctorate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He taught economics at MIT for two years and then spent more than 30 years in senior positions at the World Bank in Washington. During 1991-1992 he was the chief economic advisor to the President of the Slovenian Government, and in 2006 he received the Golden Order of Merit from the President of the Republic of Slovenia.
