An analysis of the Slovenian IT industry shows that the great demand for information services of the largest hundred companies has successfully translated into high profitability. Operating profit before depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) grew by as much as 37 %, which is 10% points more than the average.
The median wage growth in the top 100 IT companies last year was 4.2 % (the Slovenian average is 6.1 %), and the average employee on the scale received 3,265 euros gross salary per month, which is 72 % higher than last year’s average salary of employees in Slovenian companies. It is interesting that the added value per employee in the amount of 78,700 euros exceeds the Slovenian average by a little less than half, which means that IT companies allocate a more significant part of the added value to employees than is usually the case in the Slovenian economy.
At the top of the list of the largest companies in information technology in the last two years, there are a lot of innovations that are the result of ownership changes and related transformations of companies. Last year, Comtrade was the largest, after the British Endava took over some of the company’s divisions and it was divided, it is ranked first according to our methodology, which takes into account operating profit before depreciation, capital, assets and the number of employees in addition to revenues (more details in the box ), returns Iskratel from Kranj. After it was taken over by the Austrian S & T last year, this year it is merging with S & T Slovenia (fifth in the list of the largest). Even before that, it was renamed S & T Iskratel. The headquarters of the joint venture will be in Kranj, and it will be led by Sašo Berger, so far the first man of S & T Slovenia, and Robert Kuzmič, who last year replaced Željko Puljić as the CEO of Iskratel.
According to plans, the entire S & T Iskratel group will generate 150 million euros in sales revenue this year.
On the list of the largest, Dewesoft from Trbovlje, which since its establishment in December 2000 has been increasing its revenues year after year, is getting higher and higher. The software developer and manufacturer of precision measuring devices used in the most advanced laboratories around the world increased its revenue by 12% to 34.8 million euros last year. However, the costs of services and labour grew slightly more than revenues, namely by 15%, which led to a slightly more modest growth in operating profit than we were used to. This increased year-on-year by 3%, to a record 13.1 million euros. At 37.7%, the profit (EBIT) margin is three percentage points lower than the year before but still very high; the Slovenian average is 4.2%. This is one of the reasons why they occupy 5th place on the list of the most successful.
While Comtrade managed to remain at the top of the list of the largest Slovenian IT companies last year after the division of the company and its sale to the British Endava, after the new division of activities at the related company Comtrade 360 and Comtrade SI, it slipped to 3rd place. The main part of the company’s activity is now IT solutions for gaming.
