In the first half of this year, exports from Slovenia were EUR 25.5 billion of goods, which is 32.1% more than in the same period last year, according to data from the Slovenian Statistical Office. During this time, the value of imports increased by 47%, to 27.7 billion euros. The deficit in foreign trade amounted to 2.2 billion euros, and the coverage of imports and exports was 92%. In June, we exported 5.3 billion euros worth of goods from Slovenia, which is 57.2% more than in the same month last year, and imported 4.8 billion euros worth of goods, which is 40% more than in June last year. Both values ​​are the highest export and import values in the month of June ​​so far. The coverage of imports with exports was 109.6%. There was a 0.5 billion EUR surplus in the trade balance, while we had a deficit from January to May this year.

The largest share of total exports and imports in the first six months of the year was contributed by:

  • products from the commodity sector, chemicals and related products (around 33% of exports and 32% of imports),
  • machinery and transport devices (27% of exports and 23% of imports),
  • products classified by material (18% of exports and 16% of imports),
  • various industrial products (eight% of exports and seven% of imports) and
  • mineral fuels and lubricants (about 7% of exports and slightly more than a tenth of imports).
